The Ingredients of Flor-Essence

Flor Essence is composed on 8 primary herbal ingredients. Those are:

Burdock Root: One of the principal cleansing herbs. It has been described as a “blood purifier” because of the support it provides to the liver, blood, and defense system. In the past it was used as a healing supplement to offset the increasing environmental pollution. It has been used extensively within the Asian culture both internally and externally to treat colds, tonsillitis, and sore throats. Burdock root contains polyacetylenes that have both anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Burdock root has been shown to improve function of the liver, kidneys, and bowels resulting in improved health. Burdock root has also been used traditionally to improve digestion.

Sheep Sorrel: Is a weed that progressed across the world with European settlers. Growing wherever the soil was neutral to acidic, it is commonly used as a mild antiseptic, diuretic, and laxative. Traditionally used in a tea as a diuretic and to treat fevers, inflammation and scurvy. It contains high amounts of oxalic acid, sodium, potassium, iron, manganese, phosphorous, beta carotene, and vitamin C. Sheep Sorrel was often used as a herbal cleanser (especially when mixed with other herbs).

Slippery Elm: Traditionally used within the Native American culture as an adhesive to cover wounds, ulcers, and boils. When taken internally it was found to help with upset stomachs, fevers and to stop colds. Slippery elm bark has been given the approval of the Food and Drug Administration as a non-prescription demulcent to be taken internally. Grown most commonly in Canada and the US, the bark is processed and usually powdered down from trees at least 10 years old. It’s smoothing and healing effects, (along with its nutritional value) have made this a popular herbal remedy.

Turkish Rhubarb: Called by many names throughout different cultures, it has been used consistently to treat a variety of health concerns. Commonly used made into a bitter tea, it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects. It also has the effect of improving both digestion and appetite loss. Turkish rhubarb is another popular intestinal cleansing herb thought to improve the function of the gall bladder, liver and to support the removal of toxins from the body.

Red Clover: A red perennial herb that would often grow in the meadows across Europe and Asia and now formulated to grow within the United States. It was often used as a grazing food for livestock such as cattle. The red leaves are usually attributed with its medicinal properties. Beyond its use in detoxification, its health and healing properties have been used to treat a variety of conditions such as cancer, joint problems, coughing, skin inflammations and eczema. It has been used as a way to purify the blood by improving circulation, and the production of urine and bile. Recently, “isoflavones” which are chemicals in the red clover have been extracted and have shown promise in treating a number of conditions such as menopause, hot flashes, cardio health, and bone loss.

Blessed Thistle: Its primary power has been in its ability to purify and improve circulation of the blood. Used as a strengthening agent for the heart, it has also been used to heal kidney, liver, and lung problems. The herb has also been used to stimulate the brain and memory functions. Blessed Thistle made its literary fame in Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing”. Its common usages today are to help and alleviate digestive problems.
